PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT

For the quickest transfer to the city centre, we recommend using the Airport Express bus service, as detailed below. The only means of public transport that leaves or arrives at the Ruzyne Airport is the bus service.

Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) charges a fare of just 20 Kc for all journeys, except Airport Express services (45 Kc). Tickets can be bought from vending machines within the Airport and in newspaper kiosks.

The Airport Express is a special bus that connects the Ruzyne Airport with the Holesovice Train Station (Nádraží Holesovice), which is on Metro Line C. To continue from Holesovice Station to Prague 's main train station (Hlavní nádraží), take the metro at Nádraží Holesovice three stops to reach Hlavní nádraží.

The Airport Express bus is scheduled to coincide with the arrival and departure of SuperCity (Pendolino), EuroCity and InterCity trains. A ticket costs 45 Kc and covers the whole Airport-Holesovice Station-Main Train Station route.

Alternatively, Airport Cars run the official airport taxi service, with guaranteed fixed prices from 500 Kc for transfers to the city centre. A 20% discount is offered for return bookings, available from the company's booth located in the Arrivals Hall of both terminals.

For more details, call Airport Cars on +420 220 113 892 or email airport-cars@airport-cars.cz.

BUS, METRO & TRAMS

Prague has one of the best public transportation systems in Europe. The metro, trams and buses are used by two-thirds of Prague's population and cover the majority of the city and outskirts.

BUS SERVICES

Bus (autobusy) services mostly over the city's suburbs, starting from 04:30hrs and running until midnight at 6-8 minute intervals in peak hours and every 10-20 minutes at off-peak times.

Bus 119 connects Ruzyne Airport with Metro Line A (Dejvická station) and Bus 100 connects the Airport with Metro Line B (Zlicín station). Both routes are a very inexpensive way to transfer to the city centre.

METRO

Carrying around 400 million passengers a year, Prague's metro system is fast, efficient, clean and easy to use. Its 3 lines consist of about 50km of tracks running mostly underground, and some 50 stations.

The 3 lines currently are:
Line A - running east to west from Depo Hostivar to Dejvická
Line B - running east to west from Cerný most to Zlicín
Line C - running north to south from Ládví to Háje

Trains run from 05:00hrs until midnight every day, at 2-3 minute intervals during peak times and every 4-10 minutes during off-peak hours.

Click here to download a copy of the official Metro map including tram stops or visit the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) for full details on the city's transportation system.

TRAMS

Trams (tramvaje) also cover a large area of the city and are used by some 300 million passengers per year.

Daytime trams run from 04:30hrs until midnight at 8-10 minute intervals and every 8-15 minutes at the weekends.

Trams 22 and 23 follow one of Prague 's most scenic routes, passing the National Theatre to Staromestská and Malostranská metro stations, continuing up to the Belveder, Prague Castle and Pohorelec, with some stuffing views along the way.

The Nostaligic Tram No. 91( nostalgická linka c. 91 ) runs on the weekends and public holidays from the end of March through to mid-November. The tram leaves from Vozovna Stresovice every hour 12:00-18:00hrs, continuing through the city centre.

Click here to download a copy of the official Metro map including tram stops or visit the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) for full details on the city's transportation system.
