Momentum Barcelona will feature a comprehensive agenda packed with more than 100 sessions!  Highlights include:

A separate Partner Conference/TechShare Barcelona during the morning of Monday 23rd May for our EMEA partner community

Eight separate Product Advisory Forum sessions running from 9am on Monday morning for our customer community

Six 1½ hour Documentum Fundamentals sessions, running in two sets of three during the afternoon of Monday 23rd May, offering attendees a baseline understanding of key business application areas

TechShare Barcelona encompasses a Keynote Address delivered by Rob Tarkoff, EVP & Chief Strategy Officer for EMC Documentum, followed by 6 separate sessions until 12.30pm.  From 1.30pm there will be 1-on-1 Executive TechShare ISVs roundtables, as well as tutorials and fundamentals.

Due to the 9am start time on Monday 23rd May, all TechShare attendees are invited to attend a Partner Reception on Sunday 22nd May from 5pm to 9pm, hosted by EMC Documentum executive staff and members of our global partner team.  This is in the Blue Room on the 3rd floor of the AC Barcelona Hotel, situated right next door to the CCIB.

TechShare Barcelone is free of charge to all partners who stay on to attend Momentum Barcelona, either as an exhibitor or as a full-conference attendee.  Those partners who do not stay on for Momentum Barcelona will be charged £250/person for attendance at the Partner Reception on Sunday 22nd May evening, and on Monday 23rd May, which includes entry to the tutorials, fundamentals and the Welcome Reception.

All TechShare attendees will need to register via the Registration section of this website.  We would recommend that you organise your travel and accommodation early to avoid disappointment, particularly your hotel requirements which would probably include the night of Sunday 22nd May 2005.

Back by popular demand, the Fundamentals Series will address the fundamentals of key business application areas, including ECM and ILM, collaboration, records management, digital asset management, and more.  New users are encouraged to attend these sessions to gain a better understanding of all the possibilities the Documentum platform affords, while experienced customers can learn how other solutions complement the products they're currently using.

Held on Monday 23rd May during the afternoon, these non-technical 1½ hour sessions are free to full-conference attendees on a first-come first-served basis.  The sessions will be held in 2 lots of 3 sessions, enabling you to attend two Fundamentals!

Fundamental 1: Introduction to Enterprise Content Management and Information Lifecycle Management

From documents to images, e-mail to Web pages, presentations to XML, digital content is essential to the applications and processes driving today's organisations.  As the leader in enterprise content management software, Documentum is used by thousands of organisations to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and ensure control and compliance.   This introductory session will provide an overview of the Documentum products for managing content and the best practices Documentum customers use to plan, deploy, and manage ECM solutions.  You'll also learn about Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) and the role ECM plays in a comprehensive ILM strategy.

Fundamental 2: Introduction to Enterprise Document Management

Ensuring the smooth, efficient flow of documents is key to business success.  Documentum Enterprise Document Management (EDM) solutions address every stage of the content lifecycle, enabling customers to create, capture, process, deliver, and archive the documents that drive business processes.  In this session, you'll get an overview of core Documentum capabilities and learn how to leverage them to accelerate paper-based business processes, improve information access, facilitate content reuse, improve decision making, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Fundamental 3: Introduction to Web and Portal Content Management

In today's business environment, companies often maintain hundreds of Web sites and portals throughout their organisations, and managing this content efficiently poses a significant challenge.  In this session, learn what tools and applications EMC provides to ensure users can easily contribute and publish content to Web and portal sites.  Additionally, find out how Web teams can effectively manage the content processes associated with their sites, including document publishing, rich media management, and multilingual content management.

Fundamental 4: Introduction to eRoom Collaboration

This session will provide an overview of Documentum eRoom and examine how businesses are building high value collaboration applications and achieving significant ROI.  Discover eRoom's unique capabilities, and learn how companies are leveraging eRoom to facilitate collaborative business processes across their extended enterprise.

Fundamental 5: Introduction to Records Management

This session will provide an in-depth look at Documentum Records Manager, our industry-leading solution for records management.  Hear how our solution is standards-certified, how it integrates with the Documentum platform to enable administration of all physical, electronic, and messaging records, and how it can help your organisation reduce the cost and risk of litigation and non-compliance.

Fundamental 6: Introduction to Digital Asset Management

Product images, training video, collateral, flash animations, PowerPoint presentations, Web pages – these days, corporate digital assets are growing at a rapid pace. In this session we will provide a detailed overview of the Documentum Digital Asset Manager 5.3 and its new capabilities around managing digital assets which include enhanced video support, content collection and assembly, bulk file handling, PowerPoint assembly, authoring tool integrations, and more. You will walk away from this session with a better understanding of how Documentum adds intelligence, automation and control to your content throughout its entire lifecycle from creation to delivery.

 

 

Monday 23rd May : 2.00pm to 5.30pm - open to Customers and Partners

Six concurrent half-day tutorials will be held at Momentum Barcelona on Monday 23rd May.  These highly specialised, technical workshops devote significant time to particular topics of interest and offer best practices that attendees can implement to achieve their development and deployment initiatives.  They will be available on a first-come first-served basis as space is limited.

You will be asked to select which tutorial you wish to attend when you register for the conference.  If you want to add your tutorial registration after you have registered to attend the conference, or if you wish to change your selected tutorial, please contact the Momentum Barcelona Conference Office.

Please note that you can attend only one tutorial, and you cannot change to a different topic half way through the day.  On-site registrations for tutorials will be accepted, subject to availability, and payment must be made by credit card on site.

Tutorial 1: eRoom Enterprise Overview

In this tutorial, find out how eRoom Enterprise integrates eRoom's collaborative features with Documentum content management functionality.  Learn about eRoom Enterprise's architecture and scalability, and hear about eRoom Enterprise applications successfully implemented as a component of Information Lifecycle Management.

Prerequisites: Understanding of Documentum and eRoom core functionality and capabilities
Ideal for: Project managers and system administrators

Tutorial 2: Web Publisher

This tutorial will present a functional overview of Documentum Web Publisher to illustrate how the application creates Web content.  This course also will address Web Publisher templating basics and discuss how Web Publisher builds and uses site publishing configurations.

Level: Intermediate
Prerequisites: General, functional understanding of core Documentum concepts (i.e. Docbase, ACLs, lifecycles, workflows)
Ideal for: Project managers, Web developers, and Web administrators

Tutorial 3: Overview of Building Documentum XML Applications

This tutorial will overview the benefits of combining XML and content management, and provide demonstrations of industry examples.  Find out how to create Documentum XML applications and manage XML content.  You'll also learn about the architecture of XML applications, how to analyse the amount of "chunking" to be done, how to retrieve information as XML, and how to utilise Documentum Foundation Classes to do both searching and transformations.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Documentum and familiarity with XML
Ideal for: Documentum developers and XML project managers

Tutorial 4: Documentum Compliance Manager 5 Training

The tutorial will present an overview of Documentum Compliance Manager 5 (DCM), highlighting new features and functionality.  This course also will include a discussion of configuration options and use case examples.

Prerequisites: “Technical Fundamentals of Documentum”
Ideal for: Administrators and compliance managers

Tutorial 5: Business Process Management  

Find out about Documentum Business Process Manager, and learn how this solution extends Workflow Manager to handle custom activities.  You'll witness a demonstration of activity templates and discover how custom activity parameters can be extracted using server workflow methods.  This session also will illustrate the configuration of event notifications, including the use of custom e-mail templates and the dm_event_template_sender.   This tutorial will also introduce the architecture, system components, and API of inbound and outbound messaging services.  The out-of-the-box BPS activity templates, as well as the message handlers for various protocols will be described.

Level: Intermediate to advanced
Prerequisites: “Technical Fundamentals of Documentum” or equivalent experience with Documentum workflow and knowledge of Documentum Business Objects Framework

Tutorial 6: Records Manager

Documentum Records Manager is an application that manages the retention and disposition of physical, electronic, and e-mail records as required by corporate or government regulations.  This tutorial will introduce the latest Records Manager release, and explore its features, functions, and benefits.   A demonstration showcasing the desktop (Webtop), integration within Documentum, the latest physical records handling capabilities, and administrative and end user tools will be provided.  This tutorial also will provide a look ahead at some of the planned capabilities of Records Manager version 5.4.

Tuesday 24th May to Thursday 26th May


The Momentum Barcelona breakout sessions will offer high-level executive sessions, in-depth technical presentations, product demonstrations, partner discussions, and much more.  Customer successes will be shared, and topics under areas such as information lifecycle management, Documentum products and directions, application development, deployment, migration, futures and partner integrations and solutions will be included.

Track 1 - Documentum Products and Solutions

Essential to attendees' educational experience, this track will examine the latest features and newest capabilities offered within all aspects of the product line.  Documentum subject matter experts will lead these sessions and will also provide an insight into plans for future product development

Track 2 - Developing Applications with Documentum

These sessions will explore EMC Documentum products and services from a developer's perspective and highlight strategies needed to succeed in developing content applications on the Documentum platform.  Topics addressed will include Documentum Developer Studio, developing with J2EE and .Net, building custom interfaces for content management applications, the Documentum Developer Program, and other resources for Documentum developers.

Track 3 - Case Studies: Solutions and Successes

Documentum customers will share their successes and experience in this track.  Successful companies in a variety of industries and geographies utilise enterprise content management to realise business value.  Find out how leading organisations use Documentum in exciting and innovative ways to power business-critical initiatives and applications.

Track 4 - Within and beyond the Enterprise

Future directions and technologies across the enterprise will be covered in these sessions, which will include specific customer case studies.  EMC Documentum staff, partners and customers will deliver these sessions.

Track 5 - Special Interest Sessions

EMC Documentum subject-matter experts will facilitate Special Interest Sessions for participants of like or similar interests.  Customers and partners will also co-present and facilitate specific topics, bringing their knowledge and experience to the table.  Bring your questions to these interactive sessions and take part in the discussion.

Partner Forum breakout tracks

Four Partner Forums will offer attendees the chance to attend presentations given by our Momentum Barcelona exhibitors, which will provide you with an understanding of how Documentum partner integrations and solutions can increase efficiency to the end user.  Partner Forum tracks will run on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th May.

Vertical Industry Sessions

During the morning of Thursday 26th May, four special vertical industry sessions will run concurrently, covering Life Sciences, Government, Financial Services and High Technology.  Meet other customers from these specific industries, as well as EMC Documentum's vertical teams.  Share best practices, tips and tricks, and lessons learned, and get answers to your questions about Documentum in specific vertical sectors.

Documentum Tutorials & Fundamentals

 

The Product Advisory Forum is free of charge to all full-conference attending customers, or those wishing to attend as a day delegate on Monday 23rd May.   Spaces are limited per session, and are available on a first-come first-served basis.  Pre-registration is required, through the general Momentum Barcelona registration process.  On-site registrations will be offered subject to availability, as all seats are on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year we are introducing "Ask the Product Manager" briefings for the first time, as part of the EMC/Documentum booth in the Exhibition Hall.  Open to customers and partners during exhibition-open hours, Product Managers will be available on a scheduled/timetabled basis for delegates to talk to informally about any of the 8 topics covered in the PAF on Monday morning.   The full schedule will be published in the on-site guide.
